I love designing weddings, it is absolutely my favorite part of being an event planner! This boho meets travel wedding design was created from a deep place in my heart. As a child, sciences and math were heavily pushed on me. These two subjects were deemed as the pathways to a successful career one day, and jobs like nursing, becoming a doctor, or computer engineering was often discussed both in school and at home. I suppressed my passion for art, writing, design, and cooking because I was told on repeat, “You can’t make a living doing that.” What that taught my subconscious mind was the idea of generating wealth was more important than uncovering passion. I am a designer, my mother was an exceptional artist, and my grandmother was too. These love for design, travel, and creativity is in my DNA and there’s no escaping it. I am thankful every day that I followed my heart, determined to do what I love, to do good for the world while I was at it, and put how much money can this make on the back burner. Now, I get to travel all over the world creating exceptional event experiences for clients I love! Today, I am excited to share with you this styled shoot design I dreamed up in collaboration with my beautiful vendor friends down in Raleigh, North Carolina.
A styled shoot is when a vendor, typically a photographer or planner, put together a design concept and collaborate with fellow industry vendors to bring it to life. The photography and videography is then used by everyone who participated in the design. It is important to view a planners styled shoots so you can get a sense of their capabilities as an artist.
I kept the boho loving, wanderlust filled, and vintage inspired kind of person in mind. Most significant about this design is the concept for the florals. I created the centerpiece using only preserved and dried flowers, placed in a handmade piece of pottery from a local Raleigh artist. The bouquet was comprised entirely of wild grasses local to North Carolina. Both of these ideas came together seamlessly to incorporate more texture than is commonly found in weddings. The popular wedding blog, Tacari Weddings, featured our styled shoot on their website. They too, loved this design! When we work with our couples, we ask if having their wedding published is something they’d be interested in. You could be the next cover of your favorite wedding magazine! In addition, A Southern Vintage table wrote this sweet article on the design as well!
